Taken on strength, 2nd Light Horse Training Regiment, Tel-el-Kebir, 27 June 1916. Transferred to 6th Light Horse Regiment, 5 August 1916. Admitted to 7th Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance with bronchitis, 19 January 1918. Admitted to 14th Australian General Hospital, 5 February 1918. Arthur Bult was the only son of John David Bult and Dinah Elizabeth Bult (nee Frost). He was born at Euchareena on 27 September 1892, and his name registered as Erol A E Bult Arthur attended Euchareena Public School and worked as a labourer before becoming a slaughterman.

Arthur was 21 when WWI broke out. He enlisted in Sydney on 8 September 1914, just one month into the war. He formed part of the 6th Light Horse Regiment who embarked at Sydney on board A29 Seuvic on 21 December 1914. He joined the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force and proceeded to Gallipoli. On 18 August 1915 Arthur contracted influenza and was transferred to Alexandria in Egypt. On 29 August he was diagnosed with enteric fever and transferred to the Enteric Convalescent Camp at Port Said. He returned to Australia on 16 October 1915 to convalesce.

On 3 May 1916 Arthur returned to his unit in Egypt. On 19 January 1918 he contracted bronchitis. His health declined over a period of months and he died of acute pulmonary tuberculosis on 15 February 1918.

Arthur Bult had seen service in Egypt, Gallipoli and Palestine prior to his death. He was buried in Port Said War Memorial Cemetery in Egypt.

Touching tributes from fellow soldiers were received by his mother after his death and are recorded in the Leader newspaper. [2]

Arthur Bult is remembered on the Manildra Rifle Club Honour Roll, the Manildra Soldiers Memorial Hall Honour Roll, the WW1 Honour Roll at Euchareena Soldiers Memorial Hall and on panel number 5 on the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
