Ena Marion Bond was born in Springside in 1889 to Thomas and Rosina Bond. She enlisted in June 1917 and left Sydney for Egypt three months later, where she served in the 14th General Hospital in Abbassia. Nurse Bond returned to Australia in July 1919.

In August 1922 she married Sydney William Windrim in Hong Kong and the couple settled in Sydney. In October 1923 Ena gave birth to twins. The family later moved to Cootamundra where Sydney was Secretary and CEO of the District Hospital.

An avid golfer, Ena died in Canberra in July 1986, aged 97.
