Buried: Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, France, Plot V, Row D, Grave 19 John Thomas “Jack” Burrell was born at Millthorpe in 1897, the son of John T and Jane Burrell. He enlisted on 14 May 1917 at Orange, aged 20, and in December of that year embarked via HMAT A14 Euripides, bound for England. There he was taken on strength with the 25th Reinforcements and landed in France on 20 August 1918. Three days later he was killed in action.

Private Burrell is buried at Heath Cemetery at Harbonnieres in France.

John Thomas Burrell is remembered on the Millthorpe School Honour Roll, the Millthorpe Methodist Church Honour Roll, the Millthorpe Memorial Gates, Rock Lodge UAOD Honour Roll, the Blayney-Millthorpe Honour Roll and on panel number 35 on the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
