Work on the Meadow Creek reservoir started in January 1916 and was completed in 1918. The length of the reservoir was 1000 feet,greatest height 48 feet and storage capacity 150,000,000 gallons.The cost of the dam was ₤32,000 with the total cost of the auxiliary water supply being ₤56,000. On January 1, 1920 Council was informed that the water level atthe Meadow Creek reservoir (now Lake Canobolas) had risen 2ft 3in and although it was still 11 foot below the overflow a good stream was flowing into the reservoir.
