The First Orange Festival of Arts was held in February 1965 introducing residents to many different and varied art forms. In its early years the Festival thrived and was a boost for the lifestyle of residents as well as attracting many visitors however funding issues threatened its future and it wound up in the late 1980s. Between 1978 and the late 1980’s the Festival of Arts alternated with the Apple Country Fair. This was a chance for local orchardists to invite groups to their properties to see how the fruit was grown and prepared for market, and some orchardists left samples of their produce at local motels and other outlets for visitors to taste.
