About The Gnoo Blas racing circuit

The Gnoo Blas racing circuit around the Bloomfield Hospital grounds was for a long time one of the fastest tracks of its type in Australia. It was opened in January 1953 and built by Orange City and Canobolas Shire Councils following a request from the Australian Sporting Car Club. Winners at Gnoo Blas included legendary driver Jack Brabham after whom the adjacent park is named. This photograph above is of a race meeting in February 1960 which was won by Alec Mildren in front of a crowd of 7,000 people.
