William Pulbrook

William Pullbrook was born in Beechworth on 4 December 1855. He was living in Dora Street, Orange by 1886 and was a baker. He supplied railway workers with bread when the railway line was being extended to Molong. He is later listed as an auctioneer (1889) and tobacconist (1899) He is believed to have won Tattersal's lottery (possibly twice) which allowed him to enter the hotel trade. He is listed as the licencee of the Empire Hotel (1900) and the Belmore Hotel, which he renamed the Carrington Club Hotel (1901).

He was a member of East Orange Council for 10 years and Mayor in 1894.

He retired to Wellington and died on 22nd January 1952. He is buried in Wellington Cemetery.
