William Samuel Stabback

W S Stabback was born in London on 24 May 1827 and started travelling at the age of 12. He arrived in Sydney in 1853 and was a digger on the NSW goldfields. He came to Orange in the 1870s. He was Mayor of East Orange in 1889, 1891-1893 and 1895-1897. He had an active hand in securing the East Orange Public School and also in the making of the East Orange Municipality and was a director of the Millthorpe Milling Co. W S Stabback died on 5 February 1898 aged 71.
