Coronation Drive is a commemorative drive named in honour of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.A plaque at the start of the Drive near its intersection with Woodward Street indicates that Coronation Drive originally extended all the way out to Lake Canobolas but recent road maps show Coronation Drive ending at Ploughmans Lane.
